Caroline was a concept demo for a 2d hack and slash game with a gothic theming taking place in a huge mansion the player character tries to escape before they turn into a monster. The game was never developed beyond a demo, and was not released for public testing.

For this project I worked as a 2d enemy animator and designed one of the monsters. Additionally, in game items, UI elements and main menu illustrations were made by me. I also worked on the particle effects with another person.

Simplifying the design to match the style
Final in-game sprite for the enemy. Animation was combination of 2d animation on Spriter and hand drawn adjustments.
Projectile animation.

Sprite and animation for a melee enemy based on a concept art by another artist in the team.

Additionally, the demo has two hazard, a tentacle trap and a spawner that spawns ranged enemies if not defeated.

Items, UI and other visuals

Pick up items (keys, health potion, magic scroll that increses the score). Bold outlines and shadows combined with a simple colors were the intended visual style for characters and items.

Main menu of the game.
Sketches for the menu screen visual
Text logo tests and sketches. Final logo is also hand lettered.
Final logo design combines shaky lines and faux-calligraphy style. Multiple color variants of the logo were made for different uses.
